Snow is falling all around, On the housetops, on the ground. Snow is falling on my nose, On my head and hands and toes. Genevieve enjoyed the snow immensely. She caught snowflakes on her tongue. She hiked around, cleared snow off every reachable surface, and made snow angels. Together we built our first snowman. On the other hand, Emory disliked the snow. He couldn't sit up in that purple snowsuit nor the snow. He cried every time a snowflake touched his cheek. Together we shared body warmth to ward off the cold.
At the window, she considers that She is not who she was, and she is not who she will be. She is transforming. She will be strong and resilient. She will be honest with herself and those she loves. She will have stories to tell AND when she does They will no longer shake her voice. -Kwame Alexander & NPR Community
