October in Review

Another month.  Come and gone.  Most days I am embarrassed that I can't show much for the day.  When it comes to a week passing, I get a bit worried that I haven't crossed off enough from my to-do list.  But, when a month comes and goes, I get really ancy.  Eek.  Where has the time gone? Dear Time, Please slow down.  Warm Regards.  Alisha I caught Bisous sleeping with Genevieve.  That sneaky girl doesn't get into my bed often, so when she does, she lives it up - in my spot, on my pillow.  I'm not sure where I even slept before Eric got up.  Maybe he had already left for work.  In any case, our bed is not big enough to share, and only Bisous gets special priviliges because he doesn't kick. Genevieve played dress up, in my clothes this time, for her wedding.  I should really find out who she intends on marrying and when this is all supposed to take place.  I wouldn't want to miss it you know. My bell pe...

"If I had a million dollars"

Isn't that song by the Barenaked Ladies a great song?  So, now that I have the tune running through your head...I'll tell you one thing I would do with a million dollars.  I would take a photography class.  Maybe I'd even buy a new camera body, you know one that would match up with all those cool lenses Eric has outfitted me with.  In the meantime - I'll be grateful for the great camera I have, because once in awhile I get some great shots.  And, I'll continue to practice LOTS.

a warning shot

While watching this clip we're going to focus on the fact that Emory has invaded Bisous space for a many, many months now, and has been very patient about it, but is clearly running low on tolerance. 10/30

a special request

Leading up to Halloween Genevieve made a special request.  "Can we have a spiderweb party Mom?"  I responded with an enthusiastic, "Of course."  I wrote a note on my calendar for October and completely forgot about it.  The day I "scheduled it" for came and went and I secretly hoped Genevieve would forget about it.  For starters, I didn't have the first clue on how to throw a spiderweb party and secondly, I didn't have the energy for another party.  We had plenty of Halloween festivities that I was positive Genevieve would also completely forget about it.  Only, she didn't.  On October 28th Genevieve sweetly reminded me, "Mom, remember that spiderweb party?  Can we have it today?!"  I was on the hook, like it or not. So, after the kids went to bed, Eric and I spent a few minutes decorating the living room.  I printed off some coloring pages of spiders, found the only spider-related book we had, and decided we woul...

film noir

Tis the season to don costumes and parade about.  Eric and I decided to dress up as film noir actors for a costume party.  It was a lot of fun to research the look and even more fun to pull it off.  Eric even rehearsed some lines from old movies and practiced his accent.  The only thing missing were stage names.

public speaking

"We lived in Heaven before we came to earth.  Heavenly Father has a plan for me." Genevieve participated in her first primary program at church .  She did awesome.  We think she looked adorable up on the stand with all the other children.  I'm glad she has an opportunity to speak in a public setting.  It's good experience.

kiddos (and parent-os)

My children continue to grow up, despite my protests.  I am so grateful to have them.  They make our family - a family.  I pray that I can be a good mother to them.  I pray that they will be patient with me as we learn and grow together.  I wish I could hold onto every moment of every day.  But, alas, time ticks on while I frantically attempt to capture the details of our lives. I may never cease to be amazed how different Genevieve and Emory are - in every possible way.  Let's start with the basics.  She's a girl.  He's a boy.  She eats like a bird.  He eats like an elephant.  She loves to wear dresses.  He'd prefer to go nude.  She is kind.  He is violent.  She can throw a 20 minute tantrum.  He throws his fit and move on in seconds.  She was a mild teether.  He is the worst teether.  My good friend, Gwen, once told me that she couldn't write me a parenting book, because every ch...
