Mulberry Street

As you can see, we went for a Star Wars theme this Halloween.  It was really fun to dress up as a family and even fun to make costumes (I may have found my inner-sewer).  Eric went as padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi (notice his braid),  Benjamin went as Yoda, Emory went as Darth Vader, and Genevieve went as Princess Leia.  I dressed up as a cowgirl for our trunk or treat, but then pulled together my own Star Wars-themed costume last minute.  If you can't guess, I am Shmi Skywalker - Anakin's mother from Episode I.  (A stretch?  Maybe.  There aren't many female characters and Leia was already taken...  Though, with our little Vader's personality, it seems very fitting.)  Eric helped the kids carve pumpkins, we got lots of candy, and we had a great time, despite the cold and rain.  Happy Halloween! Not only is the lemonade fabulous at Chick-Fil-A, but so it their annual daddy-daughter date night.  Eric let Genevieve decide how to spend their extra time before their reservation came up - she decided to go to the shoe store and try on fancy shoes.  I can't believe they make high heels in Genevieve's size!  When Genevieve puts them on she can't help herself and something in her brain directs her body into this sassy-hip-swinging stance.  It's hilarious.

Eric likes to ask the kids what their favorite part of the day was. Tonight's report included the following. Emory: "Watching Star Wars." Genevieve: "Mystery Reader time at school." (Daddy was the reader.) Mom: "Having Daddy home all day." Dad: "Walking into Genevieve's classroom and seeing how excited the kids were to see Genevieve."

 Twelve weeks old and growing like a weed.  Benjamin is a great sleeper, sleeping on average from 10:30pm-5:30am.  If he wakes up during the night then we sneak a binky into his mouth and everyone goes back to sleep in minutes.  Ben mostly cat naps throughout the day, but I can handle that with a full nights sleep.  He has taken to the binky (with a little effort and persistence on our part) and I am grateful because I don't want another thumb sucker in the house.  Benjamin is a good eater and apart from cooing, sleeping and eating, he doesn't do much.  Though, we've heard the rumblings of a giggle and can't wait to hear it!  The kids love to interact with him and coax smiles out of him as soon as they see him.  Currently, Ben will sleep anywhere, even if he isn't swaddled as he prefers.  This skill stems from being ignored while everyone else's needs are met.  He quietly whines himself to sleep in his car seat...
