Disney World

I took this video of Genevieve, Emory and I riding down Splash Mountain on our first day and it truly captures their feelings about all the rides.  We had so much fun and hope to go again when Benjamin is big enough to ride the roller coasters with us. Magic Kingdom The highlights for Genevieve and Emory were Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Eric and I loved riding with them and hearing their squeals!  The parades were great, especially the Maleficent dragon from Sleeping Beauty and the bright lights in the electrical parade.  Emory got to meet Jack Sparrow and join the ranks of pirates.  We explored Tom Sawyer Island and scared the kids at the Haunted Mansion.  Genevieve met Rapunzel and Cinderella who complemented her on her own braids and sparkly shoes. Animal Kingdom We were surprised by how much we enjoyed this park and what it had to offer.  We arrived early to get on the safari ride and were rewarded fo...

Deep Creek Lake

A weekend stay at "The Owl's Nest" gave our family some much needed bonding time.  We supported Eric through the SavageMan half iron triathlon, took rides in the canoe, played UNO together, and rode bikes.  We all wish the weekend didn't have to end! A few highlights from the trip include: watching Genevieve and Emory jump into the lake... ...watching Eric finish the SavageMan tri... ...taking rides in the canoe or kayak... ...watching Benjamin discover new things. August in Review

We went to Ocean City and played in the sand and surf.  I love hearing my children's giddy laughter when they experience something out of the ordinary.  I hope we can make this overnight trip a tradition.  It was that great.   I got to celebrate the marriage of my friends Holly and Ozzie.  They are both great people and I certainly enjoyed the oppportunity to hang out with my lady friends.  These women are a great support to me. Alisha, Holly, Mac, Heidi   I spent a good 10 minutes trying to take pictures of the moon one night.  I opened the back door to toss a can into the recycling bin when I spotted the moon.  So beautiful.    I went to the Lake with my fabulous friends and their great kids.  The water isn't too cold and we have a great time building sand castles and trying to catch guppies.  I love Sarah and Alison.     The kids started a new game - pretend t...

the post vacation hangover

We had a blast on our trip west.  We played hard and maximized every last minute of our time.  Now, we are all suffering from the subsequent hangover associated with travel. I recorded the above thoughts Sunday night.  We'd been home less than 24 hours.  It is now Tuesday night and I still feel hungover.  We all do.  Only, we should be recovered by now, right?!  In reality, I feel empty because Eric is back to work and I can't find the motivation to get things done.  Our trip was a success because Eric is such a great man.  I would bore you, not to mention run out of space, with all the reasons he helped make this trip such a fabulous one.  The best thing I can say is, "Thanks Hon.  We miss you already." I did make a bit of progress today.  I got the kids back on EST, I exercised (for a mere 20 minutes), and I began the process of sorting through all the pictures from our trip.  What I should have...

grateful

I am so grateful the kids were well behaved on our recent flights to and from the west.  Eric and I figure, as long as our kids aren't the loudest on the flight, we're golden.  And, both Genevieve and Emory barely muttered a sound.  Whew.  Here are some pictures I took with Instagram during our two flights...
