goals

I have been slowly working my way through the giant paper pile that litters my desk.  It is an awful sight, but manages to grow in size, every single day.  Well, in that pile I found a list of goals.  I probably wrote it out four or five years ago.  It was interesting to read through it.  Many of my goals remain the same.  I'm not sure that is a good thing or a bad thing.  However, it was a nice reminder of what I want to work on regularly. Here's the List: Read a book every 2 to 3 months Blog three times a week Cook "real "meals three times a week Do well in my calling Read the Ensign, lesson, and scriptures Run/establish a weekly playgroup Go to the temple once a month Go on a date with Eric once a month Have a family lunch date with Eric once a month Read to Genevieve 30 minutes a day I would like to add a few more goals to the list, now that I have two more children in tow: Have lunch with Genevieve at school two times a month Spe...

I've come a long way.

I ran track in High School.  I ran the 400 Meter Dash.  I thought I was pretty good.  However, I never set any records, just held my ground against the local competition.  I trained with the sprinters, not the distance runners, because my race was just one lap around the track.  One.  Period.  I didn't go for "runs" that were longer than a mile if I didn't have to. The second time Eric and I met, I was wearing a state track t-shirt.  (The first time we met is funny because, while I remember meeting him, he doesn't remember meeting me.  SNL was on and he wasn't interested in meeting the new crop of freshman who had just moved in down the hall.)  We engaged in conversation about running and he invited me to run with him sometime.  Sure, why not?  He WAS the student body president at Idaho State University.  The year was 2000 and after accompanying Eric on a five...
