When the cat's away...

The mice will play. Only, in this setting the kids represent the cat and Bisous is the mouse. I know, that's a bad analogy, terrible really, seeing as Bisous is actually a cat and all. Oh well. YouTube Video YouTube Video

The "D" word.

It was a gradual decline, but when I hit bottom, I hit hard. For a few months prior to my "episode," I felt a little different. I even mentioned the word depression out loud a few times, but dismissed the feelings and kept pushing forward. I was trying to get pregnant, I had five more races on the calendar, and two kids at home All. Day. Long. for the entire summer.   I didn’t have a choice, but to ignore my feelings and get on with my to-do list.   Actually, I did have a choice and I chose to ignore my feelings.   I recognize that now. It's really difficult to explain what it's like to not feel like yourself. I'm still not quite sure how to put everything into words. Perhaps that’s because I am still not 100% myself yet, even five months after the “episode.”   The good thing is, I feel more and more like myself all the time.   I’ve learned some valuable lessons about myself, my children, and my relationship with my family.   I have learned that I am not ...

Displaced

My baby bump has displaced Bisous. He prefers to sit across my hips and stomach, but that space is no longer available. Good thing he can adapt to new surroundings.

Where are my kids?!

I was just talking with Eric and he asked, "How was your day?" As I told him about the events of our day, I found that everything I said was positive. Which left me wondering - What the?! Where are my kids and who are these pleasant replacements? Seriously though, parenting my two kiddos has been a real challenge lately and I really needed this good day. It was a normal day with normal errands and chores, but it was warm and everyone was happy. There were even bubbles and compliments at dinner. I am so grateful for this day and my children. They remind me to take a break and enjoy the little things. They also remind me that learning takes time. I need to be more patient with their learning curves.

Lung Power

This girl has got massive lungs. She can blow up countless balloons. I'm pretty sure she inherited this ability from her father. Since I tend to get light headed after blowing up a single balloon.
