hunky-dory

Sometimes, when I am having a really hard day with my kids (IE: like when Benjamin discovers kitty litter and when Genevieve only wants/will eat candy and when Emory wakes up so early that I have to force a nap on him)... I like to look at pretty pictures and pretend that everything is hunky-dory. How do these kids manage to make life so hard, yet full?!

reclaiming the backyard

When we got the new deck a few summers back, Eric said, "No more pots."  It's funny how such a decision could affect so many changes for the backyard, but it did.   Upper Deck I installed  five baskets to hold long pots which currently hold poppies and lettuce.  The poppies have taken a long time to become hearty little seedlings and unfortunately, I have to wait a full year before they will bloom, but I don't mind.  Also, we finally upgraded the camp grill to a full size grill.  My back is so much happier and I do love keeping the heat outside of the house as the temperatures rise. Lower Deck I installed the water fountain my parents gave us for our wedding.  It was a decoration at our wedding reception and hung in our first VA apartment, but has been in the box for too many years.  The white window frame will eventually hang beside the fountain.  My calla lilies are just now blooming and I love their pure white color.  And, ...

Emory is a good brother.  He asked if he could give Benjamin a ride in the dump truck and then asked if he could hold Benjamin on his lap.  So I loaded them both up and gave them a ride.  Then everyone took turns.  Yay for big brothers.
