the easiest 10K ever

Eric and I signed up for the Lawyers Have Heart 10K a few months back.  We've been training to pull in some good times for his firm's team.  There has been some friendly competition between a few of the attorneys, accompanied by light-hearted "trash talk."  When we pulled into Georgetown at 7:00am (30 minutes before the start time) we read an email from the race director - due to the intense heat they dropped the distance down to a 5K.  It was weird to line up at the starting line.  How do you change your race strategy when you've trained for a longer distance?

Well, Eric's strategy was to kick it up and run his heart out.  And, he did.  He set a PR and ran super fast mile splits!  I also ran faster than I expected and managed a solid pace throughout the race.  On the home stretch we were so glad the race was almost over.  We really would have suffered through those last three miles.  Eric's firm took 3rd Place in their division and everyone had a great race.  Time to start training for next year Team BBRS!
